News/Rumors Summary from Last Week

First official photo from the Iron Man 2 was revealed. Robert looks serious as hell, and how many Iron Man suits does he have?

Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, two directors of amazing French horror Inside (2007), were involved for some time with The Weinstein Company in order to write and direct the remake of the Hellraiser (1987). But things didn't quite worked out, so they left the project soon after. Recently they announced about their new English language horror film Livid, and I don't expect nothing less than a masterpiece from them.

The remake, BTW, will be eventually directed by another French director, Pascal Laugier, that was responsible for another horror success - Martyrs.

Just a week ago I expressed my opinion about directors that should stop making movies. The day after I finished the story, what do I read on the net? Two of the directors that I've mentioned - Oliver Stone and Ridley Scott are planning their new films. And not just new, but sequels of their popular movies.
Due to the sudden relevance of the subject, Stone is planning to continue the story of Gordon Gekko (played by Michael Douglas in the original film) with Wall Street 2, and Scott will return to his beloved Alien franchise and will try to ruin it with a prequel. Is this a clear sign that both are out of ideas and should seriously consider to take my advice?

Some unlucky robbers raided a suburban house in Spain, tied up the woman that was in the house and threatened her with knives. But apparently these robbers were also filmophiles, because when checking for expensive stuff to steal they saw number of family photos and discovered, for their surprise, that the house belongs to the big man Dolph Lundrgen and that woman was his wife! After short discussion they fled the scene, because Dolph is not a man you want to piss off.
On the picture with Dolph is famous Grace Jones, for whom he used to work as bodyguard.

First poster for Surrogates (2009), new sci-fi action film with Bruce Willis that will be released in September. Visit also viral website for fictional company that appears in the movie.

The end of the world is near. Some crude executives at Universal decided that Videodrome (1983) deserves a remake. They are so hot about the film, they dug very hard to find the original producer that owns the rights, and made him sign the contract that allows them to proceed with their demonic plans. Universal even hired experienced writer, Ehren Kruger, with quite impressive resume, to write the new screenplay.
No words about involvement of original writer/director David Cronenberg so far, and it will probably stay that way - Cronenberg is busy right now to figure out how to spend 150 millions that he got for his next production.
As I suspect, remake will not be exactly as the classic film, only some ideas will be recycled so the new version will be suitable for the current audience. Meaning - sexy actors below age of 25 with great hair.
