News/Rumors Summary

New posters for 9, coming from Russia and France. With all the hype and anticipation, the movie better be good.

First look at Black Widow and The Fantastic Mr. Fox, new images from Astro Boy, Kick Ass, Prince of Persia and Surrogates, concept art from The Book of Eli and Let Me In, short anime update, ask a Basterd and three sexy Comic Con models prepare for the event, but something is not right. Below.

---------

Did you drop your contact lenses honey?
Iron Man 2 is going to be huge hit next year and promotional campaign started already. One of the biggest controversial issues connected to the film was selection of Scarlett Johansson for the role of Russian spy Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, that first acts against Iron Man, only later to become his ally and member of the Avengers.
So to calm things down, first images of Scarlett were released, showing how good she looks in black leather. Indeed, this is what haircut and great makeup can do to a person, she looks incredible. Let's hope that when she opens her mouth to talk current impression will not be ruined, because for some reason people from other countries have to speak with accent in Hollywood films as part of their identity as foreigners. But since Black Widow is a highly trained KGB spy, she will have none, because lets face it, it is very silly.

----------

Proper look at Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. New adventure movie, produced by mighty Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney, probably won't be the next Pirates of the Caribbean, but it will be interesting to watch. The movie is scheduled for the next summer.

---------

New image from Astro Boy that appeared some time ago, but I just found it. It's a better look at the Peacekeeper, the bad machine and Astro Boy's nemesis. The film is on the right track to be released in October.

---------

Speaking of anime, this image could be a concept art for the live action adaptation of the Last Exile. I actually watched all episodes of this series and found it very interesting, although extremely complex and confusing by its multiple sub-plots and rich history with huge amounts of information and details. The visual style is pure steampunk, and the story revolves around number of teenagers trying to solve a mystery in the strange world, torn by a massive war between civilizations.
Right now live action adaptation is just a rumor, I suspect it will be very difficult project to make, but I hope they will find resources and enough imagination to do it.

Another great anime news is the return of Black Lagoon with additional season. Revy and her shorts will be back, and I hope she will finally get laid, because what's up with all the hostility and violence? I mean, she is a brutal mass murderer, likable or not, and it's time for somebody worthy to fuck her brains out. She can kill him right after, and she probably will, because she won't let anyone brag how he nailed her, but at least she will calm down a little. And I think Black Lagoon anime is mature enough to make it happen, unlike some other shows for kids. Fingers crossed.

---------

Poster and some new images from very promising Kick-Ass.

----------

Finally, official and detailed images from The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Looks like Wes Anderson did it again.

----------

And some concept art from two projects.

First one is three concept posters for Let Me In, an American remake of the last year's chilling vampire tale from Sweden Lat den ratte komma in. The remake will be directed by Matt Reeves, director of fan favorite Cloverfield, and the filming will start later this year, making this project worthy to follow after.

Second is cool images from post apocalyptic The Book of Eli, starring some big names as Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis and many other familiar faces.

---------

Nicolas Cage just can't let go. Stricken by a series of bad movies, that maybe averagely successful in the box office, but generally ridiculed and booed by viewers and critics, he keeps doing more of the same.
Talks about the sequel for Ghost Rider are nothing new, and in the recent interview he explains in what direction he wants to take this sequel. Considering the fact that the only good thing in the movie was more than impressive cleavage of Eva Mendes, new direction is a good decision, but is it really going to change anything? Especially if Eva is not in it.

---------

Best TV drama show in the past two years is back for the third season.

---------

New images from Surrogates, that for some reason keeps low profile. Maybe with all the salary for its A class stars no money left for the big promotional campaign?

----------

Upcoming week will be in the sign of San Diego's Comic Con, starting on Wednesday. While all the geek dams will be broken and amounts of freaks in superhero costumes will flood peaceful California town, talking loud and posing for the cameras, big Hollywood studios will take the opportunity to use mass psychology to promote their upcoming projects.
In the meantime, amusing short video appeared online, showing three sexy, but not very bright Comic Con models preparing for the event to promote Miss March DVD. Watch what happens.

This is obviously staged and clever disguised mockumentry, but it's funny and effective nevertheless.

---------

And finally, I found this in Wired magazine, so I'll just post it as it appears there, including the original text. This is Brad Pitt himself answering questions with amusing photos attached.

Can I answer my cell during a movie if it seems urgent?

Never. It may be a brief interruption—just a few seconds—but what if someone sitting near you is trying to make a decent bootleg? Did you ever think of that? Now all those street-corner copies are permanently defiled by your so-called "emergency." Don't be so damn selfish.

There are more questions that he answers, you can find them all at the original link, just write there in the search engine "Ask a Basterd" and see the results.
