Better lock the door

Trailer for A Nightmare on Elm Street is here, and although it looks spooky and with deeper look at Freddy, somehow I feel that the movie was reduced to a simple teenage slasher, filled with usual "lets slice that pretty teenage girl with my big knife and see her scream" kind of scares. Being produced by Michael Bay is not really encouraging, on the contrary.

  1. The trailer looks good...but it wouldnt surprise me if its just a teenage slasher...although i really hope its not. I still go and see it though!

  2. The trailer left me cold. On the other hand I am a H-U-G-E fan of the original Nightmare so I may be a tad biased. But the track record of all the Platinum Dunes remakes have shown that they make them for the money and not for any real love for the subject. This trailer shows a slick, glossy, shallow version of Nightmare on Elm street like it came out of the CW. And why are they copying the dreams of the first one? A movie like this, where nightmares reign, needs unexpected horrible surprises and not rehashed dreams.

  3. I am being skeptical because Bay produced the remakes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Amityville Horror, The Hitcher and Friday the 13th. None of them really worth mentioning, and another film, The Unborn, was complete mess too.
So I do want to see new Elm street nightmare, but I will keep my expectations very low, hoping, as all of us, for the best.
